VEMORI DEITIES: ORIGINS
In the beginning, there was time and space. It encompassed everything, governed all, and its will alone is carried out.
This is the Father Deity, Chronos.
A massive and mighty non-being, he brought into existence the universe, all its dimensions and possibilities included. He breathed life into the galaxies, offered light to the stars, and shed into the darkness all the matter there ever was, and will ever be. Through him, over time, the number of worlds and dimensions became vast. Out of his respect for his creation, he divided himself to bring into being the Forces.
Thus we were given Electricity, Magnetism, Attraction and Gravity.
To ease the responsibility off their father, the Forces began to govern the universe and all its entities by their own laws, creating a sturdy system for the universe to grow and flourish. And for a few billion years, nothing more was necessary.
It was only a matter of time before the right ingredients began to mingle and mix, causing the possibility of life to spark in the planets that had grown to be. Countless of these occurred, and while the Forces did as much as they could, there seemed to be a need for something greater. Together they called upon their Father who, though extremely engrossed in the governing of his massive creation, heard their pleas and obliged.
Thus, the Ultimates were created: Life and Death.
And they, too, brought forth The Elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Land, and Cold.
Life and Death, twins at the core though with such contrasting duties, loom and linger everywhere, their fingers stretching out to touch all. The Elements became specialists for the planets, and created new laws and limitations. Though each was unique, seemingly opposite of one another, their work meshed perfectly and brought about a steadiness that eased the concerns of the Forces and their Father.
For millions of years more, everything was in harmony.
It would be after all that time, with all the preparations made, that life began to spark. For one planet amongst the many, Vemori, Chronos turned his attention. With careful intent he would summon to being The Twelve, and it would be these gods and goddesses who would all but oversee life and lifelessness on this little planet with two moons. After assigning each their respective realms, Chronos left, allowing the deities to mark out their own spot in a scramble for hierarchy.
To this day, The Twelve overlook Vemori, some stronger than others, some more involved and some as indifferent as can be. Each found themselves loyal followers, and carved out niches of territory on the world. They found that the faith of their people kept them strong, relevant, and powerful compared to each other. Throughout the millennia, while here may have been minor shifts in the status quo of The Twelve, tranquility ruled the lands.
That is until faith became a folly, to some people's eyes. There was peace, prosperity, and the distance between clans and tribes meant little reason for conflict. And in this turn of though, their patron deities lost the grip on almighty power and relevance. As their strength waned, those still loyal began to doubt. This brewed and endless cycle, until the deities would become all but obsolete.
In their absence, the predators began to seek the prey, and technologies advanced. Weaponry became a focus, dominance a key to life. The need for The Twelve grew to be more pivotal than ever, but most were stuck in the shadows, irrelevant and unable to aid as they might have once before.
Life on Vemori began to change, and dangerously so.
